Options

Amazing Dialer is a very flexible tool with numerous additional features. Use the Options tab to enable and customize these features. Below is the list of available options.

Connect at startup

Establish the connection each time Amazing Dialer is started.

Hide program at startup

Only the system tray icon is displayed after the application is started. Double-click the icon to bring up the Amazing Dialer main window.

Hide program at connect

As soon as the connection is established, the Amazing Dialer window will be hidden.

Auto reconnect

Reconnect automatically if the connection fails.

Don't connect if slower...

Here you can enter the minimum acceptable connection speed. If the speed of the connection established is less than the specified value, the connection will be broken and another attempt to connect will be taken.

Max dialing time

Use this section to specify the time limit after which the program will quit attempts to dial the provider.

Check dead connection

If this option is enabled, Amazing Dialer will periodically check the connection. If no data can be transferred, the connection will be broken and the program will attempt to dial the next provider in your list.

Disconnect if idle for...

Amazing Dialer will hang up the phone if no data is received or sent from your computer for the period of time specified in this section.

Disconnect after...

Use this item to set the period of time after which the program will automatically hang up the phone.

Pause between redials

The period of time between attempts to dial the provider's number.

Ping server settings

Amazing Dialer can send series of packets to the Internet address you specify in order to prevent disconnection for inactivity. Press the Ping Server Settings button to bring up the settings window and enter there the interval between pings and the address of the server to send packets to. If no interval or no WWW-address is specified this option will be disabled.

Extended settings

Pressing this button brings up a window with some rarely used options. In this window you can specify which information should be shown in the system tray pop-ups, customize the appearance of the system tray icon and enable disconnection after closing all browser windows (this option now works with Internet Explorer only).

Show session time in taskbar

Marking this option enables the display of the current session time in the program's window header and in the pop-up that appear when you place the mouse pointer over the Amazing Dialer taskbar button.

Always show icon in tray

Mark this checkbox if you want to have the Amazing Dialer icon always displayed in the system tray.

Always on top

If this checkbox is marked, the Amazing Dialer window will always be visible.

Logging

Clear this checkbox if you don't want the program to keep the connections log.

Debug log

Mark this checkbox to enable logging of all errors that occur during the Amazing Dialer work.

Hang up on exit

Break the connection on quitting the program.

Default dialer

Press this button to use Amazing Dialer instead of the standard Windows dialer (this option works only in Windows 95/98/NT).

Additional options dialogs include the application launcher, scheduler and sounds support.

Pressing the Launch button brings up the Launch applications window.

You can add in the launch list the applications that you want to be started when the Internet connection is established (it may be a browser, an e-mail client, a firewall etc.).

By default the launch list is empty. Press the Add button to bring up the Add application dialog.

Pressing the Browse button opens a standard Windows Open dialog. Use it to find a file that should be opened. If necessary, you can specify the working directory (Working directory) and the command line parameters (Parameters) for the application to be run. The Window status drop-down menu contains settings for the size and appearance of the application window.

You can also select an event upon which the application must be run (on connecting to the Internet via a specific provider or any of them, or on disconnecting), and whether it must be closed when the connection is broken (and restarted on reconnecting).

Pressing the Timers button opens the list of timers used to automatically start and break the Internet connection.

Press the Add button at the bottom of this window to bring up the Add Timer dialog.

For each timer you can specify the days of the week and the exact time to connect and disconnect and the ISP, via which the connection will be established.

In the example above Amazing Dialer will try to establish the connection on December 17 at 4.40 p.m. and disconnect at 5 p.m. If the modem is busy, or the port is used by another application/device, the program will be trying to dial the number until the attempt is successful (Redial again if an error occurs checkbox).

The Extended options section lets you schedule the connection to be established on a specific day every week. Mark the Run every week on checkbox and the checkbox(es) near the name(s) of the day(s) on which you want to start this connection. In the example below the connection is scheduled to start at the end of each working day (Monday to Friday, 4.40-5.00 p.m.).

Pressing the Sounds button brings up the dialog that lets you enable and customize the sounds accompanying connection and disconnection.
